About Us

Hoover Lumber & Coal has been serving the Goshen area since the early 20th century, founded and run by the Hoover family for several generations. Fast forward to January of 1988, and Charlie Hoover was ready to retire, so Dean Ramer purchased the business. Dean and his three sons Lonnie, Kevin, and Randy ran it for several years until Dean decided to retire and the three boys took over in the early 2000s. Fast forward again to 2023 when Kevin decided to retire — Lonnie's son and Dean's grandson Brent bought his portion of the company. The company has now been around for more than 80 years, and is under the stewardship of the third generation of Ramers.

Our largest customer base is contractors and local farmers, many of whom Dean, his sons, and his grandsons grew up with.

A lot of our building materials business comes from home packages — mostly framing material, roofing, trusses/floor joists, insulation, etc. We pride ourselves on a high standard of quality, and our customer service is second to none. Whether you’re a D-I-Yer or a contractor, our expert staff won’t sell you anything we wouldn’t put in our own homes. To save you time and money, we make local deliveries from small to large loads, and we offer installed sales on windows and doors.

We also carry a wide range of agricultural products — we offer gates, fences, waterers, barn tile, and feed for pets, hogs, cattle, goats, horses, and more.

Our roots have been firmly planted here in Goshen for generations, and we are proud to serve and support our community. We look forward to seeing you!
